Plague Soundscapes: * * * (3 stars)
Justin Pearson, the Locust's frontman, has redefined punk attitude for the age of shock-rock and Jackass exhibitionism: He French-kissed a man on Jerry Springer, had a same-sex marriage in Hawaii as a joke (he married his drummer) and once performed naked while coated in silver paint. His lanky band of brats, heroes of the punk/metal/hardcore underground, offers up a noisy-as-fuck tangle of sore throat shrieks, spastically fast, occasionally hooky riffs and nightmare synths. Plague shoots through 23 songs in as many minutes, coughing up titles that are by turns gross ("Priest With The Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Get Out Of My Bed") and nonsensical ("Captain Gaydar Turn On Your Radar") with a perverted chuckle.
