Human The Death Dance Reaps Weighty Praise

Sage Francis - world renowned rapper, poet, activist, humorist and cultural provocateur - has scheduled a series of West Coast in-store performances next week in celebration of his hotly-anticipated sophomore Anti/Epitaph disc Human The Death Dance. Commencing with a May 8th release date performance at Amoeba Music in San Francisco (7 p.m.), subsequent in-store shows will take place at Amoeba Music in Hollywood (7 p.m. on May 9th), Seattle's Easy Street (Queen Anne location at 6 p.m. on May 10th) and Denver's Twist and Shout (6 p.m. on May 11th).

Early praise for Human The Death Dance has been weighty, with Filter asserting, "You can call it emo or you can call it hip-hop, but you have to call it some kind of wonderful." Elsewhere, Death And Taxes touted the disc as, "a genre-leaping mash of Francis' soulfully scholarly poetry set to some of the nimblest beats in alternative hop."

Meanwhile, Scratch proclaimed, "If Slug is your new age Nas, Francis could be Jay-Z," and Urb scribed, "its tracks work together to form cohesive, incredibly personal whole."

Later this month, following the in-store run, Francis will launch an extensive, seven-week U.S. trek with support acts Buck 65, Alias and Buddy Wakefield at Boston's Middle East on May 23rd and 24th. Francis will also join Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan among others for this summer's bi-coastal Rock The Bells Festival.
