Propagandhi 'Victory Lap' Out Now

Epitaph is pleased to announce the release of Propagandhi’s seventh album Victory Lap. Now available in stores everywhere, Victory Lap is the Canadian punk band’s first full-length since 2012’s Failed States.

In July, Propagandhi premiered Victory Lap’s title track and lead single to enthusiastic critical acclaim, with Noisey praising the band’s “unholy hybrid of 80s metal and 90s punk.” Meanwhile, Stereogum stated that “If there’s ever been a time that the world needs Propagandhi, it’s right now.”

Since forming in Manitoba in 1986, Propagandhi have brought an emphatic anti-fascist message to their music. In addition to addressing several personal losses suffered in recent years, Victory Lap finds the band facing a landscape in which fascism is—among a certain crowd—suddenly trendy.

“It hit me in a way I can’t really describe,” Propagandhi drummer Jord Samolesky says of the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath. “I almost feel like I’m trying to reinvent purpose out of this change, and the resurgence of the far right.”

Victory Lap also marks Propagandhi’s first album with new guitarist Sulynn Hago. Joining Samolesky, frontman Chris Hannah, and bassist Todd Kowalski, Hago is replacement for longtime guitarist David Guillas, who appears on several of Victory Lap’s tracks.

Next month, Propagandhi will head out on tour in support of Victory Lap. The band will be supported by Iron Chic from 10/10 to 10/21, GAS Drummers (from Spain) from 10/10 to 10/15, and Heartsounds from 10/17 to 10/21. For all West Coast dates, the band will be joined by RVIVR and Bad Cop/Bad Cop.
