Motion City Soundtrack Announce Headlining Tour of the US in 2006
Kicking Off the Six-Week Trek On February 16th

New York, NY – Minneapolis’ Motion City Soundtrack announce a headlining tour of the US in 2006. They will kick off the six-week trek on February 16th. For the first leg of this extensive US tour the band will take OK Go, Plain White T’s and Spill Canvas with them and for the second leg The Format, The Matches and Men, Women & Children will join them. Prior to the headlining tour, MCS will be doing a show in Park City, Utah as part of MTV’s new MTV2way contest and will be touring England supporting UK homegrown favorites Funeral For A Friend.

Motion City Soundtrack have had a tremendous year, selling over 125,000 records since the June 7th release of their Mark Hoppus produced sophomore CD Commit This To Memory (Epitaph). They made their late night TV debut on Conan O’Brien this past August and just appeared in Rolling Stone as one of the “Artists to Watch.” Their video for the single “Everything Is Alright” won the “Breaking Woodie” award beating out competition from The Bravery, The Decemberists, Matisyahu, and Paul Wall for Best Emerging Artist at mtvU’s first ever Woodie Awards. In addition, the video was featured on MTV’s “10 Spot Drop” and “Advanced Warning”, is in heavy rotation on FUSE where it reached the #1 spot and has been a mainstay on both mtvU and MTV2. The band are getting ready to shoot a video this month for their second single “Hold Me Down” with renowned Director Joseph Kahn (U2, Muse, Eminem, Britney Spears) and his protégé Matt McDermitt (Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette, Anna Nalick).

Furthermore, after receiving an overwhelming response on this summer’s Warped tour and the Nintendo Fusion tour with Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack have already been confirmed as headliners for 2006’s Warped tour.

The first leg of the headlining tour is from February 16th to March 12th and the second leg starts on March 14th. Tickets go on sale for all shows starting Friday, December 16th. More shows will be announced soon.
