Lyrics

No need to listen close to hear my heart pounding,
Through my pillow it resounds like a shotgun blast in an empty town.
These sheets hold me hostage for being a product of my surroundings,
Forcing me to lie in wait as my captain slowly drowns.

Tonight's alive with the breath of life and my eyes are open wide,
But my northern star is fading fast and might not make it through the night.
In all my years out at sea I've never lost my guide,
But winds of change form the biggest waves,
And I'm sure that I'll capsize.

No need to brace myself for the worst, it's already happened.
But I know I won't find my way home until the hour comes when he sinks below.
I'll drift along after the storm is gone, and like a fallen soldier I'll sing our songs,
That take me back through twenty two years past,
When the water was calm as we basked in the Western sun.

Tonight's alive with the breath of life and my eyes are open wide,
But my northern star is fading fast and might not make it through the night.
In all my years out at sea I've never lost my guide,
But winds of change form the biggest waves,
And I'm sure that I'll capsize.
