About Run It Up The Flagpole by Farewell

North Carolina's pop-rock group Farewell's electrifying sophomore album, Run It Up The Flagpole, is out now via Epitaph Records.

Fans will surely stand at attention to Farewell's trademark catchy tunes on this follow-up to their 2007 debut, Isn't This Supposed to be Fun!? "We've always been a poppy band that's easy on the ears," Davis says. "With this record, we wanted to put more content in there. So while you're bouncing around, you'll suddenly be like, 'Oh crap, did he just say that? I hadn't thought of that!'"

The very first track, "We All Fall Down," serves as a mission statement setting the record straight about misconceptions, while the first single, "Devoid (That's What I Think About It)" pushes the envelope about how mindless pop-punk can be by likening it to a fashion show. The album ends with a wrap-up, "Take It From Me," acknowledging Farewell's place in the industry. "Don't write off our band just because we're catchy," Davis explains of the track. "Listen to what we're saying and stand for something yourself too -- otherwise what you're doing is pointless."

That focus inspired tracks like "Collect to Arms," which tells the geek-to-rockstar journey Davis went through getting ridiculed in school when he weighed more than 250 pounds, and "Catch-As-Catch-Can," which explains how Farewell came to be -- and includes a special tribute to rockstar moms in the hook. "It's amazing how many mama's boys there are on the road -- you have no idea!"
