Off With Their Heads US Summer Tour With Dead To Me & Riverboat Gamblers

Having already toured most of the U.S. this year, seasoned punk road warriors Off With Their Heads have just announced a nationwide summer tour with Dead To Me and Riverboat Gamblers. Including punk rock pit stops at the Punk Rock Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas with Dropkick Murphy’s on May 28th and Chaos in Tejas Fest June 4th, Epitaph label head and Bad Religion founder Brett Gurewitz proclaims, “Off With Their Heads might just be the best punk band going right now.”

Recently coming off of a full Dropkick Murphy’s tour and a two month stint with Bad Religion, the band will be playing songs from the heralded new album In Desolation which the band admits was recorded while drinking cheap beer and watching nightmarish episodes of Jersey Shore. Alternative Press described OWTH by saying “If Against Me! and The Ramones had a bastard love child and taught the kid to brush his teeth with cement mix, you’d get Off With Their Heads.”
Off With Their Heads Premiere New Video For "Drive"

Today over at Alt Press, Off With Their Heads premiered the brand new video for "Drive" from their upcoming album In Desolation! To watch the video, click here. Check out what the band has to say about the video below.

Here is our first video for the song "Drive" off our new record. We have done a few video's before (as you may know), but never anything involving a live show. We thought Riverside CA would be a good place to film one, as its always a good time out there. This was done by our friend Mario (who is responsible for our other 2 videos), who followed us around the couple days we did the Bad Religion shows. Live video's tend to be a little......too similar to the rest, so we made an attempt to include some of the other random nonsense that happened those couple days. There is a little house of blues backstage action in there (which you might recognize from "The Carter" Lil Wayne documentaty), a little drunken stumbling, a little Vegas, and a fun show in Riverside. Enjoy.

If you are into collecting stuff, you can go to Epitaph's website and pre order "In Desolation" and get a party pack. Its got a bunch of stuff only available to the pre order.

Here's the lyrics for "Drive"

I’ve been watching myself turning from bad to worse.
I’ve been locked up in the basement putting bad habits first.
I wont answer my phone because I want to be left alone to shed all the skin that makes me well up and choke.
I’m not alive, Im just as good as dead.
I cant find a reason why I should even get out of bed.
Just make it stop, just make it go away.
I’ll give you everything I have if you’ve got the right words to say.
But I can get by on what little is left in here.
If I can just get away from my shadow, I’m in the clear.
Then it will stop and it will all go away.
I’ll be everything I was, I’ll be everything I wanted to be.
I’m out of my mind and I’m out of your sight.
So I just drive. It doesn’t matter where.
I put my foot to the floor and let the wind blow through my hair.
I’ll never stop. There is nothing for me out there.
I’ll be on the roads less traveled while it all fades in the mirror.

Off With Their Heads To Release Epitaph Debut Album On June 8

Fresh off vigorous performances at SXSW, rabble-rousing punk rock group Off With Their Heads have announced plans to release their Epitaph Records’ debut album, In Desolation, on June 8. The band has released the first song “Drive” on MySpace today; Check it out now at www.myspace.com/OffWithTheirHeads.

Produced by Off With Their Heads and Jacques Wait at the Terrarium in Minneapolis, In Desolation is 34 minutes of non-stop gut wrenching honesty. Singer Ryan Young’s candid lyrics about life’s misadventures, stress, drugs, love, death and everything between add a raw surly edge to the band’s full-throttle music.

“This record is kind of a collective mix of all the styles we've done in the past,” Young explains. “Everything from aggression to sappy bullshit, because that’s who I am! This is going to be the record for people who like the whole spectrum of what we do.”

From its first track, “Drive,” a petal-to-the-metal opener about Young’s incessant habit of over thinking things and becoming his own worst critic, to the harsh reality of OD’ing on the sobering yet rowdy song “Trying to Breath” and the explosive middle-finger-in-the-air sing along “Their Own Medicine,”
In Desolation is authentic punk rock to its core from a working band who lives and breathes it every day.

When it comes to touring virtually year round it isn’t a choice as much as it’s a lifestyle for Off With Their Heads, and after years on the road the band has finally taken a brief break.

“Until the record comes out in June, we won’t be doing any shows,” says Young. “That’s the longest stretch in almost two years that we haven’t been on the road. People ask us how it feels to finally get to relax. I'm fucking bored. The other guys are bored. We want to get back out. Not to further our band, but just because we love doing it and are used to it. The title In Desolation comes from a lyric in the song “ZZYZX” on the record. I chose that because after years constantly on the road, being 100 percent by myself sounded pretty rad.”

In June Off With Their Heads will once again pack the RV and head out on another indefinite tour strapped with one of the year’s most engaging punk rock records and the sheer will to keep the wheels turning.

In Desolation Tracklisting:

1.	Drive - 2:42
Epitaph Records is proud to announce the signing of Minneapolis punk band Off With Their Heads. The punk road dogs recently took time off from touring to record their second full length album, with plans for a summer release, but left the engine running for a two month long excursion of US and Canada that begins February 3 (Tour Dates Listed Below).

Formed in 2002, Off With Their Heads went through a slew of musicians before finally cementing the lineup with Ryan Young on vocals/guitar, Justin Francis on drums, Zack Gontard on guitar and Robbie Swartwood on bass. Since their inception, the band has released an impressive catalog of music including seventeen 7"'s, one LP and a few comps, and has toured relentlessly in US, Europe, Canada and Japan for the past five years with bands like Against Me, Youth Brigade, The Bouncing Souls and Municipal Waste to name a few.

It was during Off With Their Heads' 2009 tour with Against Me when the band got the call from Epitaph's owner/president Brett Gurewitz saying that he was a fan of the band.

"Off With Their Heads might be the best punk band going right now, Epitaph needs them; music needs them," says Gurewitz.

"I remember the first time I'd heard of Epitaph," Young adds. "It was when I was in junior high and Rancid had just released Let's Go. I saw the video, and immediately went and bought the record. I got into the compilations, and that started me on the road to finding all these great aggressive catchy punk bands. Living in a small farm town, I had never been exposed to this kind of music before, and from there I learned about punk. I guess you could say Epitaph was my gateway into everything that I would wind up becoming. For that reason alone, I am ecstatic to be a part of one of the biggest influences on my life."

Off With Their Heads are well on their way to carving out their own punk rock story with their modern take on vintage punk fueled anthems. As the band begins the next chapter of their career they took the time to record their best album to date.

"We recorded our record in Minneapolis at a studio called The Terrarium," says Young. "This is where most of the great sounding records that come out of town are recorded. I think the difference between this record and our last one is that we have enough time to make sure everything is tracked and mixed the way we would like it to be. We have never in 6 years had more than 2-3 days in a studio, and there have been parts on every recording that I'd wished we would have fixed and not used the old "good enough" excuse. The songs stylistically are a mix of something from every record, which is great."

When asked about the new music, Young says "it's a good mix of driving aggression and also mid tempo pop. Those are our two strong suits, and I'm hoping they shine through as well as they have in the past. Lyrically, it's about the good and the bad things of the lifestyle that I've chosen for myself."
