Thursday To Embark On Final North American Tour

New Brunswick, New Jersey's revered and influential rock band Thursday will embark on their final North American tour tomorrow, November 23rd. Thursday have announced that the band will go on indefinite hiatus, with plans to celebrate their successful thirteen year career together on the road for a series of absolutely riveting North American live performances.

The band will be touring in support of their sixth studio album, the critically heralded Epitaph release, No Devolución. Thursday have released four fan-coveted studio albums, including 2009’s Common Existence, in the ten years since the release of Full Collapse, Thursday’s sophomore album that pulled them from the underground basement and VFW shows they were used to and propelled the band to the forefront of mainstream rock with its unique melding of emotionally charged post-punk and aggressive post-hardcore.

“Thursday will be playing our final shows, starting tomorrow night and ending with our tour in Australia,” says Geoff Rickley. “We would love to see you all one more time. So please, if we're near your city, come out and have fun with us. It has been our pleasure and honor to make music for such wonderful people over the last thirteen years.”

Thursday will be joined on the first leg of the tour by Southern metalcore outfit Maylene & The Sons of Disaster and on the second leg with Philadelphia art rockers MewithoutYou and the New Jersey trio Screaming Females. The band will play their last shows together in Australia at the Soundwave Festival.

Thursday Explores New Sounds On Sixth Album, First Track Premires At SPIN.com

New Jersey's passionate rock band Thursday returns on April 12 with their most dynamic album to date, No Devolución. On their sixth studio album, Thursday explores elements of post-rock, indie, art and experimental styles, blending it all with their post-hardcore roots for a beautifully cathartic experience unlike anything they've done before. Check out SPIN.com's exclusive interview with singer Geoff Rickly and premiere stream of "Magnets Caught in a Metal Heart," the first released track from No Devolución here.

"This is a really different record and we thought we should just come out of the gates with a really different song," Rickly tells SPIN.com. "We were always tempering our desire to make something that was more graceful, more sweeping, and this record was the first one where we said, 'You know what? Who cares? Let's say our career is over tomorrow, who fucking cares? Let's make something beautiful.'"

Emotionally charged atmospheric guitars, rhythm and keyboards swirl in unison with Rickly's inimitably intense vocals, painting a powerful cinematic-like soundscape and grabbing hold of listeners with each twisting turn. No longer merely the "screamo" band of yore, Thursday has transcended the genre they helped to spark with No Devolución, which translates to "No Returns," an appropriate title for a band consistently moving forward.

No Devolución wastes no time with the frantic urgency of "Fast to the End," which strikes a perfect balance between new and old styles. Tom Keeley and Steve Pedulla's elaborate guitar work, Tucker Rule's driving percussion, Tim Payne's rhythmic bass and Andrew Everding's powerful keyboards fuel the narrative for Rickly's deeply personal tales of undying devotion, a theme found throughout the album. "Records are always written about new love or break-ups but no one ever writes records about long term devotion," says Rickly. "After 13 years as a band, this theme seemed self-evident."

No Devolución's theme of devotion can be felt as the dramatic arc of the album unfolds. Segueing seamlessly from one to another, "No Answers" and "A Darker Forest" find Thursday at their most vulnerable place ever. Rickly's haunting vocals float through fields of atmospheric guitars and keyboards, building to the album's first single "Magnets Caught in a Metal Heart," a stunning and memorable song of love's bittersweet attraction.

Thursday continues the intensity with "Past & Future Ruins," a surging blast of post-rock, slowing only momentarily for the somber "Empty Glass," an emotionally raw song set to an organ that tears at the heart with every word of Rickly's vocals. "Open Quotes" races back cutting sharp turns with intricate guitars under Rickly's echoing vocals, right into the searing indie rock anthem "Millimeter." Rule's rhythm provides the backbone to Keeley, Pedulla, Everding and Payne's sonic landscape on "A Gun in the First Act" and "Sparks Against The Sun" while Keeley and Pedulla lead the rhythmic assault on "Turnpike Divides," which is sure to be a fan favorite.

Thursday's parting salvo on No Devolución is "Stay True," a stunning post-rock track that evokes the epic sweep of Explosions in the Sky and the powerful intensity of Mogwai all the while maintaining a sound which is distinctly Thursday. Rickly sings "We've all got a lot to lose. Whatever else you do, Stay True." And that is exactly what the band has done here. Moving forward yet staying true to themselves along the way.

Upon completing the album, Rickly says he searched for the perfect artwork to capture the record's evolving sound and eventually stumbled on artist Mia Pearlman. "I saw an image of Mia Pearlman's "Eye" which is a giant white paper installation and kept thinking about it," says Rickly. "Eventually, I realized she lived near me and approached her about making a cut paper piece as our album artwork. We're thrilled. The record sounds like her work looks."

Thursday is currently on a US tour with Underoath where they are giving fans a chance to hear the stunning new album before its release date. At each show, the band will bring six fans onto the bus to hang out and listen to a few songs. Thursday Announce 10th Anniversary Full Collapse US Tour

New Jersey's volatile, experimentalist rock band Thursday will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their classic, groundbreaking album Full Collapse by kicking off a US tour with their friends, Underoath, in January/February where the band will perform the celebrated record in its entirety. Tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Released in April 2001, Thursday's sophomore album, Full Collapse, pulled Thursday from the underground basement and VFW shows they were used to and propelled the band to the forefront of mainstream rock with its unique melding of emotionally charged post-punk and aggressive post-hardcore.

"Full Collapse was a record that changed the course and shape of my life," says singer Geoff Rickly. We began touring for it in basements and VFW halls, continued, opening for bands like the Murder City Devils and Rival Schools and ended up as a full time touring band meeting hundreds of thousands of people with whom we formed deep and lasting connections. Time passes and we embrace new music and different goals but, ten years later, Full Collapse continues to move people and for that we are very grateful. This tour is a celebration of those times and the end of a chapter in the life of Thursday."

Called "harsh...catchy and just beautiful" (Punknews.org), Full Collapse opens with the ambient, calm-before-the-storm intro track "A0001" before seguing into the vehicular smash hit "Understanding In A Car Crash." Rickly holds nothing back as he pours his heart out about child abuse on "Concealer" and gnashes his teeth during the stirring tale of manifest destiny in "Autobiography of a Nation." Even today, fans continue to relate to Full Collapse's honest lyrics about life, finding individuality and the crushing loneliness of post-modernism. Musically, Full Collapse weaves outside the lines of standard hard rock with Steve Pedulla and Tom Keeley's innovative and dueling riffs that blur the lines between metal, hardcore, new wave and post-punk influences as heard on "Cross Out the Eyes," "Paris In Flames" and "Wind Up." From beginning to finish, Full Collapse stands the test of time and remains a relevant classic from one of the decade's most groundbreaking bands.

In the ten years since the release of Full Collapse, Thursday have gone on to release three more fan-coveted studio albums, including 2009's Common Existence with their new label Epitaph Records. With each release the band continues to grow and evolve, pushing boundaries, genres, labels and categories aside. In July, the band entered the studio to begin work on their sixth studio album, which will be released in 2011.
