I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE: DEBUT ALBUM THIS FALL

I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE TO INCINERATE THE SCENE WITH DEBUT ALBUM THIS FALL
Experiemental Electro-Grind Duo Will Release Their Highly Anticipated Debut Album On October 7th

Epitaph Records' newest signing, I Set My Friends On Fire, will release their outrageous debut album, You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter, on October 7th. Combining elements of grindcore, pop, hardcore and electronica, the precocious duo have crafted twelve hard hitting and truly ironic tracks that showcase their unique style of music and hilarious sense of humor.

Formed in 2007 by Matt (vocals) and Nabil (instruments/programming/vocals), ISMFOF have set the scene ablaze with their brand of controversial music like their wildly popular hardcore version of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which created an on-line sensation and will be featured on the forthcoming album. In June of this year, the duo entered the studio with From First To Last guitarist/vocalist Travis Richter at the helm. "Travis is one of the few people we think would understand the direction we're trying to go on our debut album," says Nabil. "Working with him, and engineer Lee Dyess, definitely took our sound to the next level. Fans will be delighted to hear how far our music has evolved from our first tracks that we posted on our Myspace page. Also, since we had a relatively short amount of time to produce this release, the quick-paced environment added that much more energy to the songwriting and recording sessions, and we feel this energy is apparent in the tracks."
You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter melds the band's unique sense of humor (as evidence, simply read the song titles and lyrics) with an onslaught of thrash angular guitar riffs, pulsing dance beats, brutal breakdowns, sassy screams and lush melodic choruses. "Our album is very eclectic and we feel that it will give the people something completely new," explains Nabil. "It has all kinds of styles woven in. The album is like a typical relationship gone wrong, spanning emotions that include joy, uncertainty, anger, hate, confusion, alienation, and everything in between."

ISMFOF ambush listeners from the get-go with the tumultuous track "Beauty Is In The Eyes Of The Beerholder," which pairs metal riffs and hardcore breakdowns with melodic sing along choruses. A virtual workout, physically and aurally, the album continues its relentless electro-grindfest with tracks like "Ravenous, Ravenous Rhino," "WTFWJD" and "ASL," which will have everyone spastically convulsing towards the dance floor. "Fans will find the tracks they've come to know us for, including "Crank Dat," and "ASL," but the album has many new tracks which continue the energy and songwriting that fans to come to know us for," says Nabil. "There are also more mellow tracks, including the "Interlude," which is a very chilled out instrumental break from the intensity of the rest of the album."

You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter Tracklisting:
1. Sh!t It Talks....I'm Out Of Here
2. Brief Interviews With Hideous Men
3. Beauty Is In The Eyes Of The Beerholder
4. Things That Rhyme With Orange
5. ASL
6. Interlude
7. Ravenous, Ravenous Rhinos
8. HxC 2-Step
9. WTFWJD
10. Crank That
11. But The NUNS Are Watching...
I AM GHOST ENTER THE STUDIO

Post-hardcore Group Is Working On Their Sophomore Album For Fall Release

The dark-rockers of Long Beach, CA, I Am Ghost, have emerged from self-imposed songwriting solitude to begin work on their sophomore album, which is slated for release this fall. The quintet recently headed east to record the follow up to 2006’s critically heralded debut, Lovers’ Requiem, with producer Paul Leavitt (Senses Fail, The Bled, Circa Survive) in Baltimore, MD.

After a lineup change in 2007, I Am Ghost found solidarity by returning to their roots and rediscovering their passion for the music.

"We went through a spiritual journey these past six months," explains founder and singer Steve Juliano. "Call it a band cliché, but it doesn't really bother me to say that. I sat in my room with these songs and really just let everything out. It was a cleansing of all the bad thoughts and ideals that had stuck in my head for almost three years. The past will always haunt you, and I know this. For awhile I was a very angry pissed off guy who hated a lot of people. This new album made me think. Why was I letting other people take control of my life? This album saved my life more than once. I don't know where I would be without these songs, the new members of this band and my family. Lyrically this is the darkest album I have ever written. Musically it's the most beautiful music we have ever done. We were not afraid any more. I am not afraid anymore. We wrote this entire album with our blood, sweat and tears. I wrote this album so I could stay alive and continue living again..."

In early 2008 Juliano along with co-founding members Gabriel Irahete (guitar) and Timoteo Rosales (guitar) enlisted the help of Ron Ficarro (bass) and Justin McCarthy (drums) to complete the revamped and revitalized lineup.

Having already established a name for themselves around the world through their relentless D.I.Y. work ethic, enthralling music and killer live shows, I Am Ghost enters the next phase with an abundance of experience and a drive to produce their best, most genuine music yet.

"The new album is just good songs," explains Juliano. "We don't have six or seven minute songs and this crazy epic intro that you will listen to maybe once or twice then skip. We just broke it down and got to the nitty-gritty. This is definitely the darkest album lyrically speaking I have ever written. But, at the same time, the songs are poppy but with this very morbid feel to it."

Catch I Am Ghost live between recording sessions this summer to get a taste of what’s to come.
Consisting of Matt (Vocals) and Nabil (Instruments/Programming/Vocals), ISMFOF defy conventional genres by cross-breeding electronica with elements of grind and hardcore for one of the freshest sounds around. Formed in late 2007, the duo became an overnight hit with their incredible rock/screamo cover of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which attracted over 50,000 plays per day and the attention of Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. In March of 2008 the band signed to Epitaph Records and began writing music for their first album due out this fall.

ISMFOF's unique music, hot merch and hilarious self-made videos have helped the group build massive underground buzz and a legion of fans via the group's Myspace page. With over 6 million page views and eighty nine thousand friends, ISMFOF are the face of DIY in the digital age.

Not your usual listen." "Fans should brace themselves for something that is very different and unique, but also very familiar at the same time," continues Nabil. "We pride ourselves on thinking outside the box as well as not having any limitations musically or creatively-speaking."

Fans can get a rare glimpse of ISMFOF performing live at Bamboozle on Saturday May 2nd @ 9:30 PM on the Nokia Ticket Rush Stage.
