Farewell Interview on TeenMag.com

Marshall Davis, Kevin Carter, Wil Andrews, Buddy Bell, Jeff Ellis, and Chris Lee make up the band Farewell, whose debut album, Isn't This Supposed to Be Fun?, is now in stores. Teenmag writer Nicole Pomarico sat down to chat with the band's lead singer, Marshall, about their new CD and what artists they love the most.

Teenmag: So, tell me about the band.

Marshall: We're from Greensboro, North Carolina. I don't know if you've ever been there, but it's a really small town. We're one of the few pop/rock bands out of that area. It's mostly metal bands. We started a few years back and our first record just came out.

Teenmag: That's exciting! What was it like to record the album?

Marshall: It was a long process. It took us about two years of demo-ing. We've been working with the producer, Mark McClusky, who is a really good friend of the band and has a similar vision of what we wanted. We worked with him to flesh out the ideas we had for the record.

Teenmag: What's your favorite song on the CD?

Marshall: My favorite song right now is "Eighty-Eights."

Teenmag: What band inspires your music the most?

Marshall: I grew up listening to Green Day, and a lot of other pop/punk and rock bands.

Teenmag: What artist would you most like to work with?

Marshall: Well, we just played a show last night with Motion City Soundtrack. That was a lot of fun. They're like our big brothers, and we love to play shows with them.

Teenmag: Speaking of shows, do you have any plans for a tour?

Marshall: We're going to be touring for the next year, trying to sell this record so we can reach as many people as we can.

Teenmag: We can't wait! For more on Farewell click on over to their MySpace page!

FAREWELL Set To Release Video For "First One On The Blog" on Oct 10th

Farewell will premiere their first video, "First One On the Blog," off of their Epitaph debut Isn't This Supposed to be Fun!? via Myspace Video on October 10th. Directed by the Endeavor Media Group (Bayside, Silverstein, Comeback Kid), the video perfectly showcases both the band's high energy brand of powerpop and rollicking sense of fun, as we follow Marshall, Wil and the rest of the guys to school one day.

Filmed at Slippery Rock University, a frighteningly idyllic institution just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, "First One On the Blog" pokes fun at the establishments that co-opt youth culture and turn kids into clones with classes like "Blogging 101," where the finer points of pimping a social networking page are taught. With just a slip of something interesting into the principal's coffee, Farewell take over the school, disruption replaces discipline and rock n roll hilarity ensues.

Farewell's Epitaph debut Isn't This Supposed to be Fun!? has been enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike. AbsolutePunk.net raves, "Isn't This Supposed to be Fun!? does a wonderful job of twisting rock, pop and synth together to make for a very enjoyable listen." Farewell's lead singer Marshall Davis states, "we want to bring that care-free feeling back to music and get everyone to uncross their arms and sing along." And the "First One On the Blog" video does just that. Called "ridiculously catchy" by Emotional Punk, "First One On the Blog" will cure any back to school blues.

Farewell depart on Oct 12th on a two week tour of the south and east coast.

Tour Dates:
10/12 - Warehouse - La Crosse, WI
10/13 - The House Cafe - DeKalb, IL
