I SET MY FRIENDS ON FIRE SIGN TO EPITAPH RECORDS

Experimental Electro-Grind Duo Sign To Epitaph Records And Plan Fall Debut

Ironic and completely original, I Set My Friends On Fire have signed to Epitaph Records with plans to release their debut album in the fall.

Consisting of Matt (Vocals) and Nabil (Instruments/Programming/Vocals), ISMFOF defy conventional genres by cross-breeding electronica with elements of grind and hardcore for one of the freshest sounds around. Formed in late 2007, the duo became an overnight hit with their incredible rock/screamo cover of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which attracted over 50,000 plays per day and the attention of Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. In March of 2008 the band signed to Epitaph Records and began writing music for their first album due out this fall.

ISMFOF's unique music, hot merch and hilarious self-made videos have helped the group build massive underground buzz and a legion of fans via the group's Myspace page. With over 6 million page views and eighty nine thousand friends, ISMFOF are the face of DIY in the digital age.

"The album will have every genre you ever heard of mixed into one big bowl," explains Matt. "It's going to be crazy! Not your usual listen." "Fans should brace themselves for something that is very different and unique, but also very familiar at the same time," continues Nabil. "We pride ourselves on thinking outside the box as well as not having any limitations musically or creatively-speaking."

Fans can get a rare glimpse of ISMFOF performing live at Bamboozle on Saturday May 2nd @ 9:30 PM on the Nokia Ticket Rush Stage.

start up here and read...

i'm sorry, but i just can't see where this move is coming from.

i know i can't be the only one who realizes that 95% of the people that go to youtube to view their soulja boy cover only go to have a good laugh. it's not a song that people put on their ipod

and walk around listening to. This is not a band that evokes the idea of "long-term success," they can barely even be called a band. Bands like bad religion have earned their place among music history through hard work and thoughtful song writing, the 27 years together prove that. i think epitaph has definitely lowered the standards with ISMFOF. They're mistaking this attention for talent, when its increasingly clear that ISMFOF is just riding this electronica/hardcore wave that

constantly breeds and kills new artists.

What continues to baffle me is how brett can support this band. brett, i don't need to tell you that BR's music has true feeling, and is very emotionally driven. you know it better than i ever could. how does someone who writes with such passion support a band (or even a genre) that is emotionally void and overproduced? you may not know me, but you're going to have to trust me

on this one. After one album, people will realize that ISMFOF brings nothing new to the table, brings no emotion, and is part of a cookie-cutter wave supported only by young middle-school kids who have yet to play the musical field.

You're a stronger man than i am, brett. if i was the one that signed ISMFOF, i wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror in the morning, knowing i'm willingly promoting such empty music"

-this has all been said in the most polite way it could be.
