EPITAPH SIGNS ALT/ROCK HEAVYWEIGHTS STORY OF THE YEAR

Band Enters Studio with John Feldmann and Elvis Baskette, Epitaph Debut Scheduled for Spring 2008

St. Louis-bred five piece Story of the Year have signed with Los Angeles-based stalwart Epitaph in what is perhaps the perfect marriage of like-minded individuals. The deal partners one of the world's largest independent record companies, which advocates creative freedom for its recording artists, with a band known, in spite of their superstar status, for a tireless do-it-yourself work ethic and willingness to take risks and push boundaries musically.

"From my first time seeing Story of the Year light up the stage of the tiny Troubadour club like a torch, to soon thereafter seeing them light up every TV screen across America, I always regretted that I hadn't come across them just a little sooner and perhaps have had the chance to sign them," says Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. "All I can say is I'm finally redeemed! This is a very big deal for Epitaph."

Story of the Year have two previous studio releases, 2003's Page Avenue produced by John Feldman (the Used, Atreyu) and 2000's In the Wake of Determination produced by Steve Evetts (Saves the Day, Senses Fail). Fueled in part by huge hit singles such as the enduringly infectious "Until the Day I Die," combined sales of the two records number well into the millions worldwide, with gold and platinum records in the US, Japan, Canada and Australia.

"Brett Gurewitz and his team understand the music landscape in 2007," says John Reese, the band's manager. "While major labels are on the panic trail, Epitaph is coming up with great new ideas to help artists reach their fans and make new ones as well. We are excited to release Story of the Year's music with the support of Brett and his team."

Story of the Year's Epitaph debut will be further highlighted by a reunion of sorts, as original partner-in-crime/producer John Feldmann returns to the helm on a number of songs. In addition, the band will spend time with Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Escape the Fate), completing the record on the Virginian coast.

Known for their kinetic live shows and ridiculously catchy songs, Story of the Year have always been famously ballsy in their mixing of glossy production, big rock hooks and honeyed melodies with searing metal riffs and intense screaming. The band has garnered a passionate and loyal following, thanks in large part to lead singer Dan Marsala's signature vocal style and heartfelt lyrics. Story of the Year have toured extensively, headlining massive festival tours such as the Vans Warped Tour and Rockstar Taste of Chaos, and holding their own indoors with other rock heavyweights such as My Chemical Romance, the Used and Linkin Park.

The wait is over. Story of the Year's highly anticipated Epitaph debut is scheduled for spring 2008. Expect exhaustive touring in support of their new record.
