A hobby is an activity, like stamp collecting or soap sculpture, in which you interest is so true that you devote to it a great deal of your free time. The boy or girl whose career arises from a hobby or from any intense interest is fortunate, for then hours of work mean not toil but pleasure. Sometimes you interest in a hobby becomes so great that you study and practice in every moment of free time. Such a hobby can then develop into an avocation, which means interest and training in a field of work outside of the occupation by which you earn you living. An avocation is more important than a hobby, and avocations are things we do because we like them. Although it takes more dedication, it may lead to a career. Blah, blah, blah, blah....
