Decomposer
The Matches

DECOMPOSER, the new full-length album from The Matches, hits the streets on 09/12/06! It's got 13 all new compositions produced by Mark Hoppus, Jon Feldman, Tim Armstrong, Nick Hexum, Brett Gurewitz and more. Here's some album art, the full tracklisting, mp3s and more to keep you going until then.

When Matches singer Shawn Harris opens new album Decomposer with the lines "Do you belong to a song, does it drag you along by the top of your lungs?" it's no idle question. Waltzing across chamber strings that quiver like a tearful lip, "Salty Eyes" feels at first like a simple song of ruined love, but is really a lovesong from a band whose lives have been saved by music to its fans. An album filled with smart, literate songs that reveal a depth of listening uncommon in guitar bands, from the up-to-the-moment clubthrob slipped into "Drive" and "You (Don't) Know Me," to the theatrical settings of "Salty Eyes" and "The Barber's Unhappiness" that hint at past listens to Bowie and Queen. Unique

Every song has its own identity on this album. It's a great follow up to E.Van Dahl that shows The Matches individuality and lack of fear to try something new.

The succeeded in their aim to make a non-directional record, it simply can't be labeled as a single genre!

I love this album. It is definately one of the best musical purshases I have made all year long. I first heard the song "Papercut Skin" on my friend's ipod and fell in love. I bought the album, thinking that it would be the only really good track and was surprised with an entire CD full of some of the most idiosynchratic and amazing music I have ever laid ears on. Kudos to The Matches. I live on an Air Force base in Germany and only have one small TOUR IN EUROPE!!

This album is amazing! It took me a couple of listens to really start liking it, but now I love it. The only song that I don't love as much is "Lazier Than Furniture", but I would like to see it performed live. I would (and have done so) recommend this album to my friends/family/strangers. Everyone go buy it! :)

A million out of 10

Salty Eyes has to be my favourite, it sounds like some sinister carnival! This album has all the weirdness of shawn (which is alot!!) yet all the raw feelings any album needs to express. Each song tells an important story, of their past... they're bearing their souls for their fans and i love it!!
Performed live the songs have such a poignancy (sp?) that i am in love with this album already, and i've got it on repeat!
