The Coachella Festival takes place in the sprawling desert of California at about this time every year. The line-up is always beyond compare, even to the biggest European festivals. This beautiful shot documentary captures the essence of this festival - from the landscape of the surrounds, to the strangely chilled and tidy crowd. Reading the line-up on the back of the case, it is pretty clear that you are in for a treat. But who knew they managed to captures the best performances of all time by some of the most amazing and respected bands? We have Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips singing "Yoshimi..." in a giant bubble, Fischerspooner with their rave style performance art (what a revelation they are!) Arcade Fire and Bright Eyes playing while the sun sets, but the magic starts at night. The Pixies play to a rapt crowd, singing alone with Kim Deal's sweet vocals, The Chemical Brothers pull out all the stops and demolish the dance floor, Bjork - my god. Her performance of "All Is Full Of Love" is heartbreaking and absolutely hypnotizing. Radiohead bust out "Planet Telex" where Thom Yorke actually smiles!? Oasis take charge and Iggy And The Stooges destroy rock and roll. This all takes place on one DVD, a second DVD packed full of extras makes this well worth whatever price tag they slap on it. For music buffs and festival fans across the world, this really is a special DVD that has to be seen to be believed.
