After 17 years and 8 studio albums Pennywise is still one of punk’s most spectacular examples. The Fuse is 15 tracks of signature Pennywise. Littered with plenty of political opposition, set to shredding guitars and pounding percussion the angst and energy of Jim, Fletcher, Byron, and Randy proves why the four continue to be uncompromising and incomparable.

If you are a Pennywise fan, you’ll love their latest CD, The Fuse. The song, “Yell Out” is one you’ll literally want to yell out loud while driving in your car. It’s got that chorus that demands your participation. “Closer” is full of intense drums and guitar, while at the same time accompanied by strong vocals and lyrics. The song that should really be heard, however is “18 soldiers.” The message is entirely political, addressing the consequences of war and retaliation. The lyrics are poetic, and the music backs up the emotion that arises when listening to the words.
The Fuse, is yet another CD that Pennywise has created to not only prove their ability to create good, sounding music, but to address issues, and ideas that too many people overlook or are afraid to think about. Although they’ve been playing punk-rock for years now, their musical style continues to grow and change, as heard in this CD. Gutsy, loud, and with a message, this CD was well worth the wait and ready to be played.
