Into The Unknown
Bad Religion

At a time when most L.A. bands were playing extremely fast, stripped-down rock, Bad Religion released this chunk of '70s-styled hard rock that anticipated the '70s revival by about a decade. It's a bit off-putting at first blush, mainly because the tempos are slower and more deliberate, and because of the use of swirling organs and pianos. But it's a terrific record that was perhaps more daring than anyone realized at the time of its release. An extremely influential and interesting record, one that any fan of hard rock should own.

I'm no fanboi that loves every single Bad Religion song but damn I love this album, it's a masterpiece.

Only heard a couple...

But they were absolutely awesome.

All great artists have periods of experimentation and this one has some great tunes.

It came at a time when Bad Religion was still far from establishing itself as a legend of punk, but I still find it incredibly electric and dynamic - a sign of success to come, even though the genre switched back.

I especially like Billy Gnosis and The Dichotomy.

I, too, would love to see this re-released.

This is a great album. To me, this is by far Bad Religion's most punk rock record. The simple fact that it was released at the time that it was released was a huge middle finger to the narrow-minded hardcore kids. It may be not sound like punk, but it had the spirit, and that's what's important. A lot of us who don't have to listen to punk all the time actually find a lot to like in this record, and other people probably will too, especially if they liked Graffin's solo albums.

it's alright...

But i still don't see it as a BR album. It would make for a fantastic Doors album... maybe. it's still underrated.
