Melodic-core. Upbeat and potentially combustible. Chockfull of style and a strong punk back bone. Don't you just love catch phrases? Well kidz, these are a few that describe the ultra-kool keepers of South-Bay punk, 1208. What the name represents is beyond me. But these young kids manage to create some very memorable and strong songs that represent our youth and the struggles of just surviving in contemporary society as evident in the hard rocking "Scared Away". "Somebody once said/Stop when the light turns red/I know the story/but I don't want the glory/Cause when you're shot down/You're gonna hit the ground" The lyrics read like a crazed revolutionary pamphlet and the music is very speedy aggressive "Descendents" style punk with some obvious hints of PENNYWISE thrown in for good measure. Original and extreme with enough integrity to keep it all very real. This whole package was produced quite nicely by Fletcher of PENNYWISE and Darian Rundall. Did I mention that lead singer/guitar player Alex is of punk royalty. His Uncles are Gregg Ginn of BLACK FLAG and Raymond Pettibon, Punk artist extraordinare. If this is just the beginning for these guys, the future looks extremely bright.

If you've been combing the shelves in your local music store looking for the new punk album that just isn't coming, on February 26, 2002, that will no longer be the case. South Bay's notorious for amazing punk (Black Flag, The Descendents, The Circle Jerks, Pennywise), and its newest, 1208, is no exception. Their debut album, Feedback Is Payback, has the intelligence, passion, and attitude that is essential for any successful punk band. Lead singer Alex Flynn practically has punk blood -- his mother is the sister of Greg Ginn, who played guitar for Black Flag. His uncle is watching closely, and so far, he should be very proud. Don't miss "Lies That Lie," ��," and "Speak Easy."
