Rancid
Rancid

This is where it all starts. Without any reminiscing about their former band Operation Ivy, Matt Freeman (bass) and Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals) blast through their debut without any hints of ska or blatant Clash plagiarizing. On the contrary, this album rips through 15 tracks of high-energy punk that's accompanied by heavy bass leads and Armstrong's permanently slurred vocals. And to top it all off, the lyrical content deals with urban blight and the lifestyle of being a public nuisance. With this trademark sound, Rancid provides the perfect soundtrack for any car chase that includes massive property damage; is it a wonder MTV wouldn't touch this?

I love adina so muchI could listen to it all day long, and rats in the hallway/hyena have the same effect on my emotions. Some songs sound a bit the same, but it doesn't matter when you've got that trio! (plus Trenches, Union Blood, and Detroit)

This is the first LP from Rancid. If you like the sound of this album full of fast and powerful tracks, you might check for the Rancid 2000 CD. Hyena, Another Night and Rejected are the highlights of Rancid 1993 in my opinion.Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman were in the band Operation Ivy between 1987 and 1989. They did an album called Energy, a great blend of punk rock and ska on Lookout! Records. Don't miss the chance to listen to it!!!
