Ignition
The Offspring

Listening to Ignition, one gets the sense of rage tightly controlled, powering the band's uptempo, driving material. While their sensibility is firmly punk, the Offspring have clearly borrowed some metal for their chord progressions and guitar sound--check out the solos on "Nothing from Something" and "Forever and a Day." While this album didn't have the success of its follow-up, Smash, all the ingredients that made that record a hit are here, if not quite as refined: angry, incisive lyrics; fast-driving rhythms; and--dare one say it--melodic chord progressions. It's easy to hear why Ignition was an underground hit and why the Offspring's later records have been so successful.

In November 1993, around the time of my 15th birthday, a friend in homeroom played this for me...and along with Green Day's "Kerplunk" and "White Trash..." made me the punk rocker I am today. I really couldn't give the slightest FUCK about what people's current opinions are about the Offspring. You can never take away from the fact that from 93 to 95 the Offspring fucking ruled...and I hope you don't like it...

Good Old Fashioned Punk

I rate this album a 4.5/5. Very good, hard old school style of punk. One of offsprings best albums.

Ignition is the first punk rock album that I bought in my life and it is still one of my favourites. The songs Take It Like A Man, Get It Right and Forever And A Day are simply amazing! If you are searching for an album by The Offspring, I suggest you this one, which is really an essential!
