In my opinion, Ribbed is the greatest album ever recorded. No other record has ever captured the combination of intensity, catchiness, and fuckin' brilliance as these songs. This is quintessential NOFX with their influences proudly shining through, combining Bad Religion-esque harmonies and speed with the slightly more technical musical style of RKL. Ribbed marked the first time a NOFX album actually posted decent sales numbers, and established unforgettable songs that have stuck with the band even as their success has grown. Classics like "Moron Brothers" and "Nowhere" show that going beyond a three chord setup and throwing in just enough well-placed harmonies can make music that's timelessly great, and leave it to NOFX to mix in plenty of humor to keep you laughing throughout the record. "New Boobs" and "Showerdays" exhibit hilariously juvenile lyrics, and the jazzy "Together on the Sand" has become tradition at most NOFX shows. The fast paced "Gonoherpasyphlaids" and "Green Corn" are among my all-time favorite songs, as their perfect blend of hooks and hardcore inspire me like no other. The band dishes out some well-deserved burns to their hometown Los Angeles scene in "El Lay", while "Just the Flu" and "Where's My Slice" provide the exceptional social commentary that we've come to expect from NOFX by now. In addition, "Food, Sex & Ewe" and "I Don't Want You Around" both show the band's tendency to venture into ska, although these stripped-down tracks are far better than any third-wave crap attempted by later rip-offs. Worship this record... this is why we love NOFX.
