Pump Up The Valuum

This album took fuckin' forever, even longer than Decline. we started in December of '99 and finished in February '00. Of course we took the holidays off and we went on a three week tour in Jan. We recorded like 22 songs, but we scrapped 8 of them. We'll finish them some other time. The title track "Pump Up the Valuum" got cut from the album. that's wierd. we gave it to Epitaph for punk o rama 5. there's another song called "san francisco fat" that is gonna go on the next fat comp. the vinyl on the album is clear, and limited to some number. i guess a lot of the songs on this record are about drugs. i guess that's because we like drugs and like singin' about them even more. well our drummer doesn't like them so much. he did so much of em he had to quit seven years ago. but he's not writing the lyrics. am i rambling, i feel like i'm rambling, any way, i like this album. there's no ska, no reggae, no jazz, just punk and punk and a little polka. i don't feel the need to ever play a ska...

Pump Up The Valuum
NOFX
So a lot of people wonder why we don't ever do interviews. Here are a few of our reasons. We mainly stopped cuz we were tired of being exploited. There are tons of really cool fanzines out there, but also a bunch of fucked up ones who are more interested in selling issues that doing good interviews. A lot of interviewers from zines sold interviews to mainstream music magazines (this happened a lot in Europe). We once ended up with photos and stories in Sweden's Teen Beat. In too many cases, we felt that we were being used, too many people misquote us, or just fill in answers that they thought better represented or misrepresented us. These are problems that every band has, its all part of the marketing game. So we decided a few years ago to get out. We don't need the exposure, we have a great fanbase, and we don't need to get any bigger when our fans continue to support us. Thanx. We are totally stoked with how many records we sell, and how popular we are. We don't need to be exploited by the press., just as we don't want or need radio or TV.
We're happy playing live, hanging out, and making new records. We occasionally do interviews with real small zines, but for the most part we keep our mouths shut. Oh yeah, the other thing is that after doing 4 or 5 interviews a night for 15 years, it gets pretty fuckin old, not to mention that people ask the same shit over and over again. I don't prefer to spend my entire evening under interrogation. I love to talk to people, but I don't like to be the only one talking and I don't wanna talk about the same thing every night -- Me. SO if you really wanna know something about NOFX, go to our website at NOFX.org and ask a question or read some of our answers. We read everything and answer everything. Instead of some interviewer making us look like asshole idiots, we do it ourselves. My hand hurts now, I'm bailing. Bye, FM
